    New Section

Hey, great website...so far, simple ect.. I was already planning to do something similar..beaten. Any way I reckon we should have an overseas section also. Maybe for hunting expeditions that people have done (Aussies that have gone overseas on safari) just an idea. Me and the misses are planning a hunt in Africa and will be taking a few pics and vids....need somewhere to put em.

    Re: New Section

Thanks.  I have tried to keep is simple as its core job is to help us all to communicate and share our photos and videos.  Im not really into the flash websites that might look great but when it comes to making it easy for everyone they really fall short.

This website has been in the pipeline for some time and to be honest it has only come about due to demand for this type of site.  I feel that we should all come together and I have thrown over $1,000 into it in the last two weeks and that doesnt include all the hosting and my time (Which there has been a heap), and it wont also include the shirts and stubbie holders.

I do like your idea about overseas hunting trips.  I guess I didnt even consider it as I have never been on one, and the cost of such a trip puts me off (I am cheap).

I would be happy to put up a forum where people can talk about OS trips. mmmmm  Maybe I should start off with one for hunting trips in general.  Then if we have the need we can branch this out into a more defined group.....

I am also happy to publish articles on the own pages, so if people want to send me their stories or articles feel free.

As for your Africa photos and vids...  Mate........  You now have a place to put them. Big Smile

Keep safe and you will continue to hunt for many years to come.

    Re: New Section

     Cheers Brendon,

I suppose it might be to early to start, maybe get the membership up mate then intro as a new section? dunno just thinking on what you could use as new material. Really appreciate simplicity of web site, maybe some pics and a welcome video from your self in the field...at the front/welcome page dunno just thinking out loud.

Mate also, and dont hammer me here, but I totally agree with your intro...re: people asking why you go hunting. I cant remember how many arguments i have got into with people. Ends up me saying to them "how the hell do you think meat gets on your plate", plus a heap of other argumentitave pros and cons as you would be aware. But I am also an animal lover (go figure) I will shoot vermin/pests, animals that will destroy a lively hood, but I also only shoot what i can eat when it comes to eaters, if you get my drift. If we go to Africa it will be to a purpose built safari park designed for hunting safaris...and even then i dont know if i would be able to shoot a lion ect.

As this is a site for communication have you looked at a membership type set up, competitions? Your right there has been a need for something like this. I have had a look at a couple of other sites, but seem a bit dissorganised. Cheers

    Re: New Section

I actualy had the age old question on the weekend.  "Why do you go shootin and what you do shoot?" and then there is always the "What do you do with them afterwards?"

Sometimes I get bored and give stupid answers but most of the time I try and explain my way of thinking and highlight the other side of shooting/hunting and I dont normally talk about the actual killing of an animal.

Without giving too much away, when the membership gets up I will be approaching some the guns shops from around Australia and giving them the opportunity to give stuff away for comptertitions that I plan on holding.  I will also be looking at getting us all group discounts if you are a member of the OzHunter website.  There is power in the collective and we need to use that to our advantage.

I have also noted that a lot of our members 99% of them dont like posting to forums for one reason or another, so to help them break the ice, I have created a new forum under the general area for Welcome.  If would be great if everyone could put a simple 2 liner post in there, with a breif introduction about themselves.  It can also be used as a great place where new people can say hello.

Keep safe and you will continue to hunt for many years to come.

    Re: New Section

Good stuff, thanks.  I guess I should also post one for the people that don't know me, which I would guess is just about everyone on the website.

I am a little be embarrassed about posting, what if no-one likes me. Embarrassed
